Rain, rain… go away…

Starting at about 7pm last evening, it started raining. And it hasn’t stopped since. Pretty rare for Denver so I really shouldn’t complain. But I will. Last night it was soothing and atmospheric, as I sat in bed with a book and a beer… but by now it’s just making me damn melancholy. It’s a “Farmer’s Rain” at least – so all the plants and grass are getting a royal soaking.

But it’s sure messed up our plans for tomorrow. Water World when it’s 70 degrees and drizzling? I think not.

I can’t help but think of Bryan though – who probably has it much worse than me. He, Jeff and Tim set off to climb another 14er this weekend, Mt. Elbert near Leadville. I bet they are soaked to the bones.

I suppose that is an improvement from the last time, though. They happened to be there right after a climber fell to his death. Search and Rescue implored them to help carry the man’s body down the mountain. Who could refuse, but apparently it was a pretty grizzly, not to mention, physically difficult, task. Just thinking about it makes me despondent.

Melancholy, indeed.
