AWOLNATION at Summit Denver
AWOLNATION burst onto the scene in 2011 with their electrifying hit “Sail,” a brooding anthem that somehow made rage sound poetic – and immediately earned them a spot on festival lineups everywhere. Seeing AWOLNATION in concert is an experience, and I hope we get many more tours. (There were some rumors that their latest album, The Phantom Five, might be their last album but the band squashed them right quick, WHEW!)
AWOLNATION is the brainchild of Aaron Bruno, who previously played in a few other rock acts before deciding to go full mad-scientist in a home studio. That experimental spirit is what defines the band: a chaotic blend of rock, electronic, and industrial pop that doesn’t care about genre labels.
Catching them live is like stepping into a controlled storm. One minute you’re head banging, the next you’re floating in a synth-soaked trance. They’re great at whipping up the crowd with raw energy and for turning even their slower songs into cinematic moments.
Our show at the Summit in Denver was more than packed; it was one of those times where you wonder if the fire marshal is going to be called and I mean that as a compliment. We all had the best time at what was I’m sure was not the last time we’re all seeing such a great rock band.
