Denver Band Decatur Gives Free Show at 3 Kings Tavern
I definitely believe in paying anyone for work done, especially bands – but I loved that Denver band Decatur recently held a free show for fans when original member Sam Oatts (currently the lead trumpet on the Broadway tour of “American in Paris”) was in town. I had never seen these guys before and I enjoyed how many different styles of music they pull together while putting on a fun concert.
I was able to sit down and chat with band member Quinn Cox and he told me their name isn’t actually due to the city of Decatur, as one might think – it’s from a nickname/mispronunciation of lead singer Sean DeCrescenzo’s name. I’m someone who gets both their real and blog name slaughtered all the time – I feel the pain.
Decatur has been gaining attention lately, including a session with Open Air and a slot on Spotify’s Hot New Songs 2018 playlist. Be sure to check out the single “Shake” as well as their self-titled EP. Also, next time Decatur plays in Denver, count us in!
