Photos of Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats at Ogden Denver
It’s no secret I love Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats. Yes, I am lucky enough to know several of the band members – Wes Watkins, in particular – but we Denver music fans have been waiting for this moment. I loved Born In The Flood, I loved Nathaniel’s solo work, and the first time I saw Night Sweats (2013, opening for Joe King from the Fray), I knew the project would take off. Some people have said it happened overnight; Denverites know it was long overdue.
Part of the success is the music. (The album is killer.) Part is the live show. (See photos below.) When they come together, it’s magic.
The Night Sweats had two completely sold out nights at the Ogden right before Christmas, and the walls were literally shaking. Not just when they sang SOB, you know – that song of the summer, fall, and winter… apparently. The whole damn night. Nathaniel usually has a holiday show, but they are a lot bigger now.
You also may have noticed them singing the National Anthem for the Broncos last night. Everyone on my Facebook posted this exact photo. A Denver band performing for the Denver football team?
Pandemonium.
All this attention and love and awesomeness makes not only attending a Night Sweats show harder (the Red Rocks date for next summer is already sold out), but makes photographing the band more poignant. I feel very honored to be able to capture this moment in time.
Love this band! Son of a bitch!
Love this band! Had no idea they were from Denver.
