Foals at Mission Ballroom Denver
Foals is one of my favorite bands and they absolutely kill it live. I was thrilled when I heard they were coming to one of our premier venues, the Mission Ballroom. It’s large enough to allow lots of people to attend, but small enough to feel intimate. So much so, that during the encore, lead singer Yannis Philippakis popped over to the bar for a shot while still playing his guitar (see photo below).
I was able to get on the phone with former Foals’ member Walter Gervers in 2016 and got a little sense of their history. For their future, they have been releasing singles all through pandemic and finally the full length album Life Is Yours in 2022.
The concert here in Denver was a very nice mix of old favorites and new classics (setlist here), with the whole crew showing why everyone always lists Foals as a terrific band to see live.
Foals has a few more shows on their own tour in the spring, then they head out on with Paramore in mid-2023. One of the first dates on that tour is here in Denver at Ball Arena and it’s certain to be one of the biggest of the year.
