Great Wold Lodge Colorado Springs - Family Travel Fun

Family Fun at Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs

Note: Our stay was sponsored by Great Wolf Lodge. However, all words and images are mine.

We had never been to a Great Wolf Lodge before they asked a bunch of Colorado bloggers to visit for the opening weekend of their Colorado Springs resort a few months ago. They chose the Centennial State as their 15th location and I had always heard it was a vacation all in of itself, with the water park as the front and center attraction… but I didn’t realize there was really so much more to do.

Great Wolf Lodge Water Park

Yes, of course, we loved the large indoor water park (with nearby pool bar) that includes a huge water tree fort (Colorado style) and various water slides for various ages. My teen’s favorite was the Wolf Tail, a tube where the floor literally drops out from underneath you. My 47-year-old self was happy to sit in the wave pool and watch all that business from afar. Very far afar.

A nice perk at Great Wolf is the water park is only open to guests, and you can arrive early the day of your stay to splash around (stow your bags and play)! On day of checkout, you can hang out until the pool closes, really making a one-night stay at Great Wolf equal two days of water park.

Other attractions at Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs

But as I mentioned, there are lots of other things to do at Great Wolf Lodge.

Mini golf, ropes course, a mining activity, a mini bowling alley, an arcade, a climbing wall, and a “creation station” where kids (and adults!) can make an interactive character to play with throughout the building.

Although, individually, all these activities can get a little pricey. I highly suggest the park passes that Great Wolf offers to group all your faves together.

Magiquest at Great Wolf Lodge

One activity that I was most excited about was Magiquest. You get a magic wand and can do wizardy stuff all over the resort? We’re in! Don’t be afraid to ask the middle school kids for advice, because – honestly – the quests run so deep you could stay for a week and not finish them all.

A tip for the Colorado Springs Great Wolf Lodge – find the stairs while playing Magiquest. There can be a line for the elevators because of all the kids going up and down, especially at check-in/out time, but the stairs at the end of the halls are an easy way to move around.

Dining at Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs

While the resort is conveniently located right off I-25 in Colorado Springs (so, you could go out to eat if you like), there are several great choices inside the hotel.

  • Barnwood
  • Ben & Jerry’s
  • Dunkin Donuts
  • Hungry as a Wolf Pizza
  • Loose Moose Family Kitchen Buffet
  • The Outpost Bar
  • Watering Hole Bar

Great Wolf Lodge places special emphasis on allergies and dietary needs, so be sure to tell them if you have any issues at check-in!

Colorado Springs as a Destination

We sometimes forget how close the Springs is to Denver (just an hour south!) and love exploring all these choices for a mini-staycation away from home. Check out the Colorado Springs Visitors Bureau for all the fun things to do around town. But honestly, with the new Great Wolf Lodge, you don’t actually even need to plan anything.

Just go, relax and have fun with the family!

P.S. Watch Great Wolf Lodge’s deals page for special offers and discounts!
