Channel 93.3 Top Ten Hometown For The Holidays (HTFTH) 2017
Have you heard about the Hometown For The Holidays song contest from KTCL Channel 93.3? Every year, our local DJs like Alf and Nerf are sent hundreds of entries and then a panel of local music peeps vote anonymously to help narrow down the entries. The result is ten songs that are played on air for a week and then voted on by any music nerd who has signed up for the KTCL surveys.
The prize? Personally, I think it’s the radio airplay – but the band that comes out on top plays at next year’s Westword Music Showcase and Not So Silent Night – as well as winning valuable studio time in Colorado’s famous Blasting Room.
I was honored to serve on the listening crew this year and I am super proud of the results. SIX songs with female lead singers – WHAT!? Would that be the Denver music scene version of taking down the patriarchy? Either way, I was super impressed with ALL the entries, and as ever, I look forward to discovering new bands through the contest.
The top three will play at what is the Denver holiday party of sorts – our Hometown for the Holidays concert at Summit Music Hall on December 15th. It’s free entry, but VIP tickets may be purchased for $20. Prior winner 888 will headline the show!

I used to be able to peg the top three just from listening to the songs, but I fell off my streak several years ago. Plus, several of these bands are friends – and I look forward to getting to know the artists who are new to me.
I vote for Facing West!!!!
I love how excited everyone is this year, Dana!
