How to keep a common cold from sending Declan to the ER with a bout of croup…

At the first sign of a sniffle or cough:

1. Have him drink
2. Give him nasal rinses with the NeilMed contraption over the bathtub 2xs a day.
3. Have him do asthma meds through the nebulizer 2xs a day.
4. Give him round the clock decongestant.
5. Thank your lucky stars that you have a kid who tolerates all this shit.

Seriously, this is the second cold since starting at the new school and while I did hear the start of a croupy cough on Friday, we have held it off by doing the steps above for the second time in a row.

It’s nice for a common cold to be just that… a common cold.
