While I am at it, I should mention some of my favorite music from 2008. It was a good one, seeing as 3 of my very very favorite musicians (Keane, Jason Mraz and James Morrison) put out new albums. And I already saw Jason, I’m seeing James in 2 weeks with Adele – so c’monnnn Keane!!!

James Morrison – Songs for You, Truths for Me
Jamie Lidell – Jim
Jason Mraz -We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things.
Jenny Lewis – Acid Tongue
Keane – Perfect Symmetry
The Kooks – Konk
Lenka – Lenka
Lizz Wright – The Orchard

Tristan Prettyman – Hello
Vampire Weekend – Vampire Weekend
The Verve – Forth
The Weepies – Hideaway
Weezer – Red Album
How about you? Did you find anything you loved in 2008?
(UPDATE: This is NOT the Greeblemix for this month, but my fave albums list of 2008! Although, some some songs from these guys do make an appearance. And many songs from these albums have appeared all year long in previous Greeblemixes.)
New Ben Folds, yay!
I love mix CD’s! Awesome 🙂
Love Priscilla Ahn. And I am 100% with Kelly – you have made me excited about new music again!
I heard a Weepies song a few days ago and I LOVE LOVE them. Love.
They’re not new, but I was introduced to and fell in love with the Decemberists in 2008.
While I liked the newest Weepies and Tristan albums, I have to say that I prefer their first albums better.
I have some new stuff (to me at least) that I want to send you. I’ll get on that!
I got derailed on Adele and 40 minutes later, I am wondering how I will make it through the list.
Here’s to bigger lists in 2009!
Loved the newest from Lucinda Williams, Little Honey. Gnashing my teeth that I’ll miss her Dallas show.
Madly adored Evil Urges from My Morning Jacket. “I’m Amazed” is easily my favorite song of oh-eight.
And yeah, I’m still swooning over Ray LaMontagne’s Gossip in the Grain. When I fall, I fall hard.
Love, LOVE Vampire Weekend. Happy to see them on your list of faves.
I need some more music in my life. Thanks for the recommendations. 😉
How PATHETIC is it that I have only even heard of 4 of the artists on this entire list?! And that doesn’t mean I know anything about them, only that I have heard their names before. Blech…how awful. Must do some serious listening….and quick!
A Greeblemix would be a great way to start ’09!
From 2008, I really dug Ida Maria and Bryn Christopher. 🙂
Goldfrapp. Ooh, la la.
Wow, you linked all these! That must have taken ages! This is an awesome mix. I think I’ll download all these to my iPod!
This is very cool! Come for the photos, stay for the music!
Got to get in an early comment before I can compile my list of faves.
New year, new music! Yay!
OK. I have to say that YOU have turned me on to some new music (to me, anyway) that has me excited about music again! I haven’t been excited about new music in about 10 years!
YOU and your Greeblemixes have turned me on to: Eric Hutchinson, Keane, Caesars, Cut Copy, Gutter Twins, and Wilco. I had heard some of these guys before, but you gave me songs to look up, and that started the ball rolling,
So Thank you Amy! I love all the fun aspects of your blog!
I definitely need some new music to start the year off … pick me, pick me!
LOVE Eric Hutchinson! Good mix!
You know I’m entered, yo.
Any new favorites?
Musicwise? Not really.
Otherwise:
Moda’s Peace on Earth fabric.
Fabulous stuff.
Oh –
And if you’re looking to cheer Anne, Tree, and me on again – it’s looking like we’ll be doing a OKC 1/2 marathon end of April.
You’re welcome to join us, of course!
Otherwise, we’ll have to come to Denver again!
Because you love Franti, I love you even more. 🙂
My mantra in life: “All the freaky people make the beauty of the world.”
Hmm. Who did I discover in ’08.
Adele. Michael Buble. Daft Punk. Jamie Cullum. Q Tip. Robin Thicke.
Not all new. But new to me. 🙂
I need to check those out!
My favorite this year? Straight No Chaser’s “Holiday Spirits.” It’s my new favorite Christmas album.
They were stunned by the response to putting out an album, that in late spring, there will be an album of non-holiday music. I am sooooo excited about that news!
Count me in:)
SOOOO happy to see another Michael Franti fan 🙂 Only “discovered” him about a year ago myself, my life is changed for the better 🙂
Check out Andy McKee on youtube for something entirely different but just as mind-blowing! (try “Drifting” for the first song you watch)
Dang, I needs me some new music. Seriously, it’s XM on my DirecTv or some random world music on iTunes radio. I have NO idea what music is out there. Punch line? I have several music degrees. Sigh…LOL
I am IN LOVE with some of Vampire Weekends stuff – my brother made me a cd with some of their B sides….love, love, love.
Also, my local fav this year was Brandy Carlisle…Turpentine. And Adele – lord have MERCY! I love that song too!
Getting in just under the wire . . .
So, previous post being said, I would say that 2008 brought me new faves:
SUPERGRASS rocks!
Metro Station
Erin McCarley
Kenickie
Lenka, and pretty much any brit pop. I also seem to have the musical taste of a 15 yr old girl as Britney’s new songs have gotten under my skin. Along with Katy Perry, Christina’s new one, and some Rihannah! lol
My new favorite — Jason Mraz. I’ve been listening to Live High over and over again.
