Joywave - Denver Concert Photos & Review

Joywave and Almost Monday at Bluebird Denver

It’s no secret that Joywave is one of my favorite bands. I have photographed them numerous times and was thrilled to interview frontman Daniel Armbruster last year. Their new album, Cleanse, was just released – so they are touring on that plus Possession, which came out just as the pandemic started. This means tons of material to cover and also a bunch of fans hungry to see them, myself included. In Denver, that equated to two shows in one night at the historic Bluebird – I was lucky enough to attend both (and photograph the first).

Opener almost monday has been on my radar for a few years, and they were an almost perfect match for the upbeat pop rock of a Joywave show. Those guys also played new music, which I hope will be released for all of us soon.

In the meantime, be sure to go listen to Cleanse if you have not. Daniel tends to write upbeat songs that verge on the subversive when you listen to the lyrics – perfect for our various moods these days. Joywave continues this tour through the Spring, ending up in their home town of Rochester.
