June Greeblepix Contest!

Yes, it’s that time again! So quickly!

So. Did you see my tweetstream Friday night? I attended a presentation by Seattle photographer Chase Jarvis at the Art Director’s Club of Denver. Pretty much everything he said, I was nodding my head. I looked like a bobble doll.

“The best camera is the one that’s with you.”

He takes a lot of iPhone photos. A LOT. I knew I had a kindred spirit when I saw that. Seeing as I had been playing with my iPhone for a while, realizing there was no way to lug my bigger camera around all the time. My back hurts, people! So, I started shooting them on the fly my with iPhone and uploading to Flickr too – and really having fun with it.

I did use the iPhone Shake It Photo app on all these, but what I really like, is the pressure and urgency of take a photo, on the fly, and in the moment.

So, why am I blathering on about this?

You guessed it. Even though I generally don’t have themes for Greeblepix contests – let’s see your on the fly photos. From cell photos, from iPhones, from point and shoots… or just those “in the moment” shots. My friend Denise suggested this as a theme a while back and I think this month is a perfect time for it.

Have fun!

AND DON’T FORGET!

The Greeblepix winner will receive a $250 camera equipment rental from Pro Photo Rental!

Great equipment from Canon, Nikon, Olympus with free three day shipping each way.

My wife is a firm believer in the power of the impromptu photo . . . no planning or scheming, just point and shoot.

I took some great shots with my BlackBerry this weekend. Now I may have to enter . . .

  3. Sue at nobaddays

I know it’s out of focus (I call my phone cam the “crappycam”) but this is a typical Saturday morning in our household. Snapped it on my way out to yoga!

  4. Meghann

Mine is with my good camera, because I was the insane one who carried it everywhere we went in NYC. I might as well have been wearing a neon sign that said “TOURIST”.

Anyhow, it was raining one of the days we were sightseeing, and I had put the kids in these yellow ponchos. I happened to snap my picture as we walked up to the Brooklyn Bridge, with my kids lines up like little ducks against the gray scenery.

This will be fun. Love the connection of designer/photographer/life.

  8. Megan

I entered my in the moment shot, unfortunately I don’t have an iphone or point and shoot, but this was definitely in the moment.

  9. Nat

With a little patience, and a lot of tuck and hold you can get not bad photos from an iPhone. (I did go out and buy myself a cheapo point and shoot — which I now keep in purse.)

I’d enter this month but, I haven’t taken a decent photo in weeks.

  10. gonzomama

i don’t use my camera phone often, so i chose a picture where i definitely just grabbed and click, because i didn’t want to miss the intensity of the moment

  11. Burgh Baby

i stumbled upon your site tonight! so i’m giving it a try…my pic was taken with my good camera~ but was completely in the moment!

  15. Jay

Just when I thought I had a definite “I’m-going-to-rent-a-Canon-5DMk2-next-month” winner, it gets complicated with themes.
I do hope this photo qualifies It was taken on a side hike up Bull canyon while on a raft trip on the Yampa river. I always carry my Lumix TZ-5 point and shoot and the tree was just lying there as I heaved my lungs out when the hike turned out to be an 800 ft. climb.

  16. chloebear

I thought my picture of Penny turned out pretty good for a iphone shot. I like this month’s idea. Again all wonderful shots.

  17. Matt

Great pictures everyone! This is going to be an awesome month!

  18. gcmandrake

This is a great idea. I check out Chase Jarvis’s amazing iPhone pictures almost everyday.

  19. moosh in indy.

is there anything more “in the moment” than bugs doing it?
    I say nay.

  20. g-man

I posted mine. While it is still from my big camera, I did take it on the fly. (which is why I usually take my camera everywhere 🙂

Thanks again for hosting this Aimee.

  21. Robin

My shot was with a point-and-shoot and I took it at my desk during work when I saw a leaf had fallen off my plant. I’m not very good with plants but I think I’m pretty good with dead leaves =)

  22. monstergirlee

I’m in, its a photo I’ve posted before but a long time ago, and the only phone photo I have access to right now.

My photo was of my baby, Ollie, giggling when he was about two and a half months old. I couldn’t find my DSLR, so I used my iPhone to snap it. It’s still one of my favorite pictures of him!
