Greeblebits – June Edition

It’s been fun curating “nice” news! While the world is still kind of on fire basically – it’s great to hear that the music and travel industries are doing their best to find creative ways to bring the world joy. Check out my news section for other editions, but here are tidbits from the past month!

FoCoMX Drive & Jive at the Holiday Twin

[ezcol_1third]Drive & Jive FoCo[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]The Fort Collins Musicians Association, Odell Brewing, and Sustain Music & Nature have come together to produce a brand new, social distancing friendly concert series at the historic Holiday Twin Drive-In Theater. The summer live music series called FoCoMX Drive & Jive will bring live music to the big screen every Tuesday night all summer long. The series kicked off on June 9th and will feature Northern Colorado bands playing live music to audiences safely watching from their cars. [/ezcol_2third_end]

Enzi – “Retrograde”

[ezcol_1third]Enzi[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Alternative pop singer ENZI has released her stellar new single “Retrograde.” Hailing from Northern Colorado, the Belmont University student recorded the track with production duo Josh & Noah Ryan at BigChair Studios. “Retrograde” opens with a lush dreamscape set over a Wurlitzer as ENZI’s soaring vocals move front-and-center, describing impulsive thoughts of an unhealthy relationship at the hands of this otherworldly phenomenon.[/ezcol_2third_end]

Geographer – “Love Is Madness”

[ezcol_1third]Geographer[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Geographer, moniker of Mike Deni, has shared his latest single, “Love Is Madness” co-written by Kevin Ray from Walk The Moon. The track is off of his upcoming LP, Down And Out In The Garden Of Earthly Delights, to be released December 4th. Mike and Kevin donated all streaming proceeds for the month of June to #8cantwait, which supports the analysis of policing practices across the country, technical assistance to organizers leading police accountability campaigns and the development of legislation to end police violence nationwide. YMCA of The Rockies Offers At-Home Programming

[ezcol_1third]YMCA of the Rockies[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]YMCA of the Rockies staff is known for their robust activity programming and just launched some brand new at-home programming (YMCA of the Rockies at Home). The programs are designed to feed the body, soul and mind of guests, friends and followers. Programs include: Cowboy Brad singalongs, Flower Creations. Music and Storytime and Online Yoga and Bootcamp. Also check out the YMCA of the Rockies’ latest COVID-19 updates for re-opening this summer.

James Morrison – “Live At Dingwalls”

[ezcol_1third]James Morrison - Live at Dingwalls[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]In a time when we can’t attend concerts, James Morrison has released a stunning live album via Exit [live] which was recorded in 2019 at Dingwalls, London. It’s also now available on Spotify here in the US. The album captures James in an intimate gig, and delivers ten songs to an audience that just rolls along with him as he rocks the very foundations of this great London venue.

Joy Downer – Full Length Debut Paper Moon

[ezcol_1third]Joy Downer[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Los Angeles independent musician, Joy Downer, debuts her stunning full-length record, Paper Moon. Joy’s delicate voice, lush synths, and rhythmic instrumentals will transport you into the ultimate retro dreamland. Her song “In The Water” is currently featured as the theme song for the Netflix original series, Spinning Out, and she was recruited to record a powerful cover of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for a Honda TV Ad.

Paper Idol – “Ready For Love”

[ezcol_1third]Paper Idol[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Paper Idol has shared the latest single off of upcoming EP Money For Flowers, “Ready For Love,” which weaves in and out of classic French Disco and modern dance production while lyrically exploring the difficulty in setting boundaries in relationships. The theme is especially pertinent in a time when couples are spending more time in close-quarters than they may want. [/ezcol_2third_end]

The Blood Moon Howlers – “Tilted Patrons”

[ezcol_1third]Blood Moon Howlers[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]The Blood Moon Howlers, out of LA, are back with heavy blues riffs and tasty, slinky leads fused with a drum beat that will make your hips shake with their new single, “Tilted Patrons.” It’s the follow-up to their critically acclaimed single, “Moonlighters.” Members include guitarist/vocalist Matt Wayne, bassist/vocalist/keyboardist JuJu and drummer/percussionist Brandon Cooke.[/ezcol_2third_end]

Denver Band Innerspace Debuts New Video – “Airwalk”

[ezcol_1third]Denver band Innerspace[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Local rock band Innerspace’s latest song is called “Airwalk,” and it is about humanity’s physical and psychological disconnection from nature, our dependence on machines, and the illusion of security we often slip into when the world is falling apart around us. Neil Finn Releases Benefit Song – “Find Your Way Back Home”

[ezcol_1third]Neil Finn[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Legendary musician Neil Finn was asked to write a song – Find Your Way Back Home – to support the fundraising for an amazing new building in New Zealand. It’s called HomeGround and is being developed by the Auckland City Mission to create a path for people to find their way back home. Neil had the support of Fleetwood Mac bandmates Stevie, Christine and Mike, along with his son Elroy and fellow Kiwi singer Georgia Nott, to help make this recording. Now more than ever, as we shelter in place, we are reminded that everyone deserves to have a home where they can feel safe and be well. Wolf Culture To Release Their Sophomore EP

[ezcol_1third]Wolf Culture New EP[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]UK-based punks, Wolf Culture, have announced their sophomore EP, Dying In The Living Room. The new EP features Sleeping With Sirens’ Kellin Quinn, as well as contains tracks that were co-written by Alex Adam of ROAM. Wolf Culture was born out of the seaside town of Bournemouth, England, and after the band performed and recorded a series of demos and covers of popular artists under different aliases, in 2016, the band launched themselves into the scene under the moniker ‘Wolf Culture.” Dying In The Living Room is due out July 10, 2020.[/ezcol_2third_end]

FreePeopleTV Premieres New Music Television Programming 

[ezcol_1third]FreePeopleTV[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Denver’s creative scene is flourishing! Helping to pull the curtain back is Monalicious (Mona Magno) who, in 7 years, has created a record label, multiple bands of her own and now, an entire channel of programming for the Denver music scene called FreePeopleTV (FPTV). FPTV now consists of videographers, artists and journalists, including Aaron Loki Johnson previously of Colorado Public Radio (CPR). Each episode will highlight a variety of content that’s been produced over the past year whether it’s a mini-documentary, an artist session or a virtual live set. Episodes of FPTV’s first season will go live on Twitch every Wednesday. After each episode airs you can find full videos of the featured content at FM4FP.com. [/ezcol_2third_end]

Xanterra Announces Re-Opening of Lodging in National Parks

[ezcol_1third]Open National Parks[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Xanterra Travel Collection, the largest operator of lodging, and dining in the majority of the national parks west of the Mississippi, have posted the most up-to-date and comprehensive information on what’s opening and expected to open, and the new guidelines and protocols in this post quarantine COVID-19 summer of 2020. All information is subject to change, so it’s imperative that vacationers and outdoor adventurers use the Xanterra website for the latest information, as well as stay tuned to information being provided by the National Park Service (NPS). [/ezcol_2third_end]

Eldren – “Fell In”

[ezcol_1third]Denver's Eldren[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end]Through these times of isolation, Eldren has kept busy crafting their next EP, managing their self-grown Daymoon Studios and releasing “Separation Sessions” — a series of creative covers recorded from home. The band is a force to be reckoned with having opened for acts like Portugal. The Man and winning best psych-rock band in Denver by Westword for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016. The new single, Fell In” marks the start of an evolution for Eldren as they pivot their ideologies from 2018’s Miss Information Aged. Being strong advocates for racial and social justice, Eldren have collectively decided to donate a portion of streaming royalties to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Color of Change. Virtual Denver PrideFest Celebration Draws More Than 365,000

[ezcol_1third]Denver Pride[/ezcol_1third] [ezcol_2third_end] More than 365,000 people participated virtually in Denver’s online PrideFest celebration June 20-21, according to The Center on Colfax, which presents the annual event. Denver PrideFest typically draws more than 450,000 to Civic Center Park, but this year’s celebration was moved online because of restrictions on public gatherings due to COVID-19. Featuring a virtual auction, political rally, parade, family activities, a 5K race, and three stages of entertainment, the online PrideFest event offered the LGBTQ community a safe way to unite in celebration and strength in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Events and activities from the two-day festival continue to be available for viewing at DenverPride.org, including the virtual marketplace, queer author interviews and main stage entertainment.[/ezcol_2third_end]
