KTCL’s Top 10 Hometown For The Holidays 2015 #HTFTH

It’s a big tradition at Channel 93.3’s Not So Silent Night concert: the Top Ten finalists of Hometown For The Holidays are announced. This song contest has become such an ingrained part of the Denver music scene that some bands specifically record songs just for it. Every year, after musicians from all over Colorado (not just Denver) have submitted their songs to KTCL, a committee that represents a wide variety of music professionals gets together to listen and rate. The list is narrowed down to the Top Ten which is, as I mentioned, announced by DJ Alf during the annual Not So Silent night music festival (which was last night… I think… if I can remember through my massive hangover).

Then these songs get played often over the next two weeks and we, the “Music Nerds” for Channel 93.3 vote for the winners. The top three battle it out at Hometown For The Holidays concert, which this year is at The Summit instead of Casselman’s and also has former HTFTH winners The Epilogues headlining. This is a free show, although VIP tickets can be purchased and proceeds from that go to benefit one of my favorite charities, SpokesBUZZ. (Thus of course we bought the VIP tickets.)

The winner at Hometown gets to come back at next year’s Not So Silent Night and open the show. Seeing as headliners for NSSN has included Bastille, Cage The Elephant and Fun – this is clearly a big deal. But, in my mind? The real prize is massive airplay over two weeks on one of the most popular radio stations in Denver.

Congrats to the 10 Hometown For The Holidays bands!

It’s full of fresh blood this year! I only have seen a few before – but I look forward to learning about the rest of them starting this week.

If you can’t read that:

P.S. I promise this is the real list. Alf has verified his handwriting. I snapped a pic right as he walked out on stage to announce them.

Go listen to all the songs on KTCL Channel 93.3’s page and let me know what you think!
