Oh… my… god… Spaghetti Ice Cream….
I was reading Tree’s blog, plaintively requesting homemade ice cream recipes. Which lead me to Gretchen’s blog, where she posted just such a recipe. Then, per Gretchen’s instructions, I went to the Food Network to see their wondrous recipes of vanilla yumminess.
And then I saw it.

You don’t understand. I think maybe only my sister will understand and she doesn’t read my blog. But maybe she will after I send her this link.
We used to get Spaghetti Ice Cream from the little shop in my mother’s teeny weeny hometown of Naila, Germany, every time we visited family growing up. All our friends thought we had made this concoction up – but, seriously – it alone was worth the 9 hour plane ride.
Essentially, it was pretty simple… some cream in the bottom of the bowl. Then, you pass vanilla ice cream through a pasta machine to make it look like strands of spaghetti. Then top it off with a strawberry sauce.
Not so simple though. Trust me, I tried several times in college and all I ended up with was a big fat mess.
Not that I am going to order ice cream over the Internet. I am just filing away the photographs as my proof for the next time someone calls me crazy as I go all gooey-eyed describing one of the best things I have ever tasted in my entire life.
