Porno For Pyros at Fillmore Denver – Farewell Tour

Formed in the wake of Jane’s Addiction’s dissolution, Porno For Pyros emerged in the early 1990s like a colorful firework in the alternative music scene. Fronted by the charismatic Perry Farrell, the band is a fusion of punk, psychedelia, and alternative rock. Their self-titled debut album had hits like “Pets” and “Cursed Female,” showcasing their eclectic sound and Farrell’s distinctive vocals. Known for their energetic live performances and provocative lyrics, Porno For Pyros captured the essence of the era’s counterculture spirit.

Flash forward to 2023, the band planned a farewell tour but they had to reschedule when original member Martin LeNoble bowed out (amicably). Now in 2024, Perry was joined by other originals Stephen Perkins and Peter DiStefano, while the legendary Mike Watt came along for the ride on bass. I knew it was going to be a fun night, but it really turned into one of those shows that everyone in attendance will talk about for years. They all looked like they were having a blast, and sounded SO GOOD. It was a master class in rock.

Porno For Pyros also gave use some new music leading up to the tour, and the set list (see below) was a wonderful mix. This show was worth waiting 27 years, and while I’m sad it’s farewell, I was damn glad to be there.
