Sink or Swim

Declan is about to finish his third round of swimming lessons, and he is more of the SINK variety in his class. We aren’t going for round #4 right now because soccer is starting up – but I *can* say that Declan did actually do a few doggy paddles last week without clutching his teacher maniacally, so I guess that’s something. It’s not that he is afraid of the water – he totally is not and is happy for Bryan and I to throw him back and forth through the air like a 6 year old floppedy legged octopus being tossed about on the waves. An octopus that can’t swim, that is. Not for lack of trying. His skills in the swimming arena are just more in the areas of dropping to the bottom of pool like a stone. At least for now.

Ah well. At least I have fun taking photos of him.

Oh, me too! My dad was a sailor – like competitively, so I learned to swim pretty much before I could walk! So it’s weird that Declan isn’t picking it up fast! But he just has trouble FLOATING. Bryan says he had trouble wit that too as a kid.

So, what you’re saying is that Declan is AWESOME at grabbing those rings off the bottom of the pool? 😉

I was petrified at the start of my first swim class. By the end of the first class…they had to drag me out of pool to get me to go home.

    great shot!

I’m not much of a swimmer but Sullivan does like the water. Love the pics tho! TFS.
