UMS Lineup & Information 2021
If you had asked me just a few months ago, I would have been unsure if the Underground Music Showcase (UMS) would be happening this year. But the lineup was released this week, and indeed Denver’s showcase of hidden musical talent is going down! A month later than usual and a bit smaller than past years – but given the continuing pandemic concerns, I am pretty impressed by the number of bands and venues. Sure, there are some Denver faves who didn’t get a slot this year, but there is also a lot of new talent I can’t wait to see live. Such is the problem with these sorts of things – you can’t make everyone happy.
That’s been my attitude about UMS in general. Show up and see who is there. It’s gritty, sloppy, but most importantly – really fun. For me, the best part is just wandering around seeing friends and listening to music. Period. It can be an overwhelming weekend of music and heat, so drink your water, apply that sunscreen, but get yourself down to Broadway in August!
