I have been wanting to see Jukebox The Ghost every since Channel 93.3 started playing “Everybody’s Lonely” on heavy rotation. It’s such a perfect indie pop song. Happy and sad at the same time. I was doubly excited they had a date at the Bluebird before they play Big Gig this summer: First, so I could see them twice this year, but most importantly, that I could see them in a small venue before they blew up. (Be sure to check out their next single, “Fred Astaire;” it’s just as fun.)
This trio with a penchant for imaginative doodles (see their ghost logo) did not disappoint. I tweeted during the show that I felt like I was seeing Elton John and Ben Fold’s babies on stage – and it was meant as a mega compliment. The band is friendly, talented, and super fun live.
We were treated to a great opening band with The Greeting Committee – with a particularly great performance from lead singer Addie Sartino. Friends asked me later in the tour if they should arrive in time for the opener and I simply replied with about five “thumbs up” emojis.
Can’t wait to see Jukebox The Ghost again on July 15th with other awesome bands like Lovelytheband, K. Flay, Walk The Moon and headliner Thirty Seconds To Mars. Big Gig tickets are available now – see you there!
