Metaphysics with a 4 Year Old
This morning at breakfast, we were humming along to John Mayer’s “Waiting On The World To Change” – seeing as Declan is quickly acquiring my taste in music (much to the chagrin of his father).
I was singing the words and Declan suddenly said, “What if the world was as small as a raindrop?”
I was at a loss for what to say since that is a question I have thought myself many times… (except mine was more like “what if we are all inside a dust speck that is riding on the back of a mangy dog?”)
So, I answered, “So, what if the world was as small as a raindrop?” (A dodge if there ever was one).
And he said, “Um. I guess we’d never get out.”
Indeed.

the thought of being trapped in a raindrop freaks me out.
Those are such fun questions! The problem when E asks them is that she is already talking about something completely different right after she asks that cool question. Sigh-girls! And as she gets older, it sucks because we could have some really great conversations!
That’s a story to make a father proud. Next step is getting him to say, “How to I create that effect in 3D?”
I know, it kills me what they come up with sometimes!
