RAYE at Fillmore Denver
There are singers, and then there are vocalists.
RAYE proved exactly why she has become one of the most talked-about performers in music when she brought her 2026 “This Tour May Contain New Music” tour to a packed Fillmore Auditorium in Denver. From the moment she stepped onstage, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a typical pop concert. It was part cabaret, part theatrical production, part arena spectacle, and completely captivating.
The tour serves as a showcase for material from her highly anticipated sophomore album, This Music May Contain Hope, while also reimagining many of the songs that helped turn her from an in-demand songwriter into one of the most compelling artists performing today.
What struck me most throughout the night was the balance RAYE manages to maintain. She draws heavily from jazz, soul, and classic vocal traditions, often channeling the elegance and swagger of a 1950s nightclub singer. At times, it felt like watching a modern version of a Sinatra-era performance, complete with dramatic arrangements, theatrical staging, and the kind of vocal control that simply can’t be faked.
Yet despite those influences, the show never felt nostalgic or retro. Everything about the production was firmly rooted in the present. The music moved effortlessly between jazz, pop, R&B, electronic elements, and massive singalong moments that had the entire Fillmore engaged from start to finish.
RAYE opened beneath a mountain of fur and falling confetti before later emerging in her signature red dress, creating visual transitions that reinforced the show’s theatrical nature. Each act carried its own mood and identity while still feeling connected to the larger narrative.
Of course, all of the staging and production would mean little without the voice.
What. A. Voice.
RAYE’s vocal performance was astonishing throughout the night. Whether delivering intimate ballads or soaring through powerhouse moments, she demonstrated the kind of range, phrasing, and emotional depth that explains why audiences and critics alike have embraced her rise over the last several years. Live, she sounds every bit as impressive as she does on record, and often even better.
The energy inside the venue reflected just how much momentum RAYE continues to build. The sold-out crowd arrived ready to celebrate, and she rewarded them with a performance that felt ambitious, confident, and refreshingly unique in today’s pop landscape.
Some artists put on concerts. RAYE created an experience.
She will be opening for Bruno Mars for the rest of the summer, so I hope you get a chance to catch her there, or even better – on her own when she comes back around for a solo tour once again.
