A Bittersweet Farewell
We got the call today. Mr. Paul, a very good friend of Bryan’s parents and their next door neighbor of 20 years passed away this morning. He was 93. He lived a full life. He fought in World War II. He was a postal carrier until he retired, and then he putzed around the garden with Bryan’s dad. He never once forgot Bryan’s birthday. He was a sweet soul whose wife had passed and whose family really consisted of my mother- and father-in-law. When I saw him last summer, he told me he was ready to go.
It still makes me sad to hear it, and know he’s not with us any longer.
Goodbye Paul. We’ll miss you.
