Amos Lee & Indigo Girls at Red Rocks
Recently, I was able to finally see two acts that managed to evade me to a long time… Decades honestly. Amos Lee and Indigo Girls played a very special show at Red Rocks, where they co-headlined in front of a very packed crowd of fans.
The Indigo Girls – Amy Ray and Emily Saliers – have captivated audiences with their heartfelt lyrics and signature harmonies since the late 80s. Their music, blending folk, rock, and activism, has resonated deeply with fans across generations. I remember listening to “Galileo” and “Watershed” over and over in college. Of course, the crowd sang the loudest for “Closer To Fine” which has found new fans with the Barbie movie.
Beyond the music, Ray and Saliers are celebrated for their activism, championing causes like LGBTQ+ rights and environmental justice. The Indigo Girls remind us that music can be a powerful force for change while still being a whole lot of fun. They still sound absolutely terrific and were worth the wait.
Amos Lee, the Philadelphia-born singer-songwriter, has been captivating audiences for years with his soulful blend of folk, rock, and jazz. Starting his career as a schoolteacher, Lee traded chalkboards for guitar strings and quickly found his stride. His debut album in 2005 showcased his tender voice and introspective songwriting, setting the stage for a series of critically acclaimed releases.
Even playing a huge venue like Red Rocks, Amos Lee still created a sense of closeness with his performance. His music isn’t just heard—it’s felt, offering a gentle escape into moments of nostalgia and hope. If you haven’t yet caught him live, add it to your bucket list. Few artists manage to turn a concert into a soul-soothing experience quite like Amos Lee does.
