And Now For Something Completely Different
First THANK YOU for all the encouragement for yesterday’s post. Your comments, and the emails I have received offline have meant the world to me.
What a strange day it was.
I decide to have a big emotional unveiling, and in the evening we had plans to go to the circus. And while sitting in the circus, I sat up straight and realized that tomorrow (now today) would have been my father’s 80th birthday.
But in a lot of ways, it’s not all that weird that I ended up at the circus last night. Because life is GOOD now. I often think that I’m living that scene from Sound of Music where Maria is all “somewhere in my miserable youth I must have done something good.” Corny! But true.
For example, here is us driving home from the circus. I ended up taking notes on this to remember it because it is exactly how I think of the three of us when I get all Von Trapp.

[Aimee is driving Bryan’s truck because BRYAN wore a clown suit to the circus. OH YES HE DID.]Bryan: [as Aimee pulls on to their street] “Where is my truck????”
Aimee: [starting to laugh] “ummmm.”
Bryan: “Whew. I must have parked in the driveway.”
Aimee: [laughing harder] “ummmm.”
Bryan: [looking around the vehicle] “oh.”
Aimee: [laughing hard and trying to maintain vehicle safety while pulling into the driveway.]
Declan: “Daddy! Do you GET IT now? We’re IN your truck!!!”
Aimee: [laughing so hard her head is resting on the steering wheel.]
Declan: “You know what is the best thing about this family??? Mama laughs ALL THE TIME.”

It’s true, friends. It’s true.
You guys are awesome.
I’m glad you have such a great, fun family, and have been able to overcome the pain in your past. Abuse never goes away, but at least you can discuss it and gain power over it while helping others.
Sending you good thoughts
Von Trapp circus! awesome.
This made me tear up almost as much as your revealing emotional post. Because, you see, finding this kind of fabulous happiness and a child who recognizes it only one generation away from the abuse you suffered is a remarkable feat of human spirit.
Mama laughs all the time! Oh my goodness, that made me cry, especially after reading your post yesterday.
Yes indeed…you must have done something good!
All the best.
I love this. -m
lol. I might have ended up in stitches from laughing so hard had I been there in person.
🙂
I love happy endings. 🙂
So hilarious! The clown suit seems appropriate for the moment, eh? 😉
You guys are an inspiration.
I missed this one – hilarious! He really wore a clown suit to the circus??? LOVE THAT!
I do the opposite of that. If I have a rental car, and I pull up to my house and see my own car in the driveway, I inevitably say: huh, someone’s here, that’s weird.
