Anyone interested in buying a Volkswagen Passat?

I have loved my car through thick and thin. But lately, there has been a whole lot of thin.

On the way into work today, the car pretty much keeled over and begged me to shoot it to put it out of it’s misery. A huge flashing “STOP CAR” sign on the dashboard propelled me pull over immediately and call a tow truck.

Got the call from the repair shop this afternoon and it’s going to be $1,200 worth of repairs.

Let me repeat: TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

So, my eye is wandering.

Bryan and I ran over to the Toyota dealership today and surprise upon surprise, they actually had FOUR Prius’ lined up in a row. All we have heard is that no one ever has any on stock and it’s a four month waiting list. But dammit, I am not buying a car without driving it, so we were thrilled to get to do some test driving.

In a nutshell, I really liked it. It definitely is not a powerful as my Passat, but hell – the thing gets nearly twice the gas mileage of my VW and my VW was nothing to sneeze at to begin with.

I have a lot of thinking to do. I need to make sure that my attraction to a hybrid is not overpowering what financial decisions need to be dealt with right now.

Sometimes I hate being an adult.
