Elephant Revival & Josh Ritter at Red Rocks
Elephant Revival performed their first headlining concert at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre recently, which is the loftiest of goals for most musicians – not to even mention local bands. This “transcendental folk” group are from Nederland, a small town of 1,500 people up the hill in Boulder County. They have gained a huge following over the past decade, and fans were out in force to show their love.
Singer-songwriter Josh Ritter opened the show with a smile so infectious, it still has me grinning when I look at the concert photos below.
And when Elephant Revival took the stage, they brought a child choir and life-size costumed elephants to trumpet the occasion. The night was filled with stage fog and ethereal music from a talented group of musicians who mix folk, bluegrass, country, indie, reggae and Celtic music.
I look forward to the band’s next Red Rocks show, but in the meantime, they are busy all around the country on the festival tour circuit for the rest of the summer.
