Last Dinosaurs at Meow Wolf

If you’re into indie rock with a splash of 80s nostalgia, Last Dinosaurs is a name you should already have in your playlists. This Aussie band hails from Brisbane and formed back in 2007, quickly gaining attention with their infectious debut EP, Back from the Dead. Last Dinosaurs  consists of brothers Sean Caskey and Lachlan Caskey, both of whom are lead vocalists and guitarists, and bassist Michael Sloane.

Their breakout moment came with the 2012 album In a Million Years, which featured bangers like “Zoom” that still get crowds dancing. Since then, they’ve evolved sonically with albums like Yumeno Garden (my personal fave) and 2024’s KYORYU, but they still blend guitar riffs with dreamy synth vibes.

Known for their tight live performances, Last Dinosaurs have toured extensively across Australia, Asia, and North America. I was excited to catch them at our very special venue – the Perplexiplex inside Meow Wolf, and let me tell you – these guys know how to bring the energy. The crowd was singing every word, and the band fed off that hype with a setlist that balanced old favorites and newer gems. Between their catchy hooks and charismatic stage presence, it’s hard not to become a fan after seeing them live.

Despite the name, there’s nothing extinct about their momentum. If you ever get the chance to see Last Dinosaurs in concert, don’t miss it — you’ll be dancing all night!
