Music Mondays

Music is so so so important to me. I remember being a kid, and listening to U2 tapes over and over again at night – flipping them when the snap of one side startled me awake and I needed the other side to soothe me back to sleep.

It wasn’t just U2, of course. It was also Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder and a band with the worst name in history, Cock Robin.

These past two months have derailed so much in my life, including my music listening. My hearing in the evil ear has returned about 50% at this point, and certain tones are stronger. If a dance song is on the radio, I will jump sometimes when bleeps and blips come out of nowhere, because my right ear can hear them more fully than the other sounds in the song.

It’s truly bizarre.

And sad… I can’t crank U2 or Stevie Wonder while I work right now, because it hurts.

But, I *can* hear, and I *am* thankful for that.

Since 2007, I have done a mix CD giveaway every month on this blog. And I have loved every minute of it. But with everything going on in my life, I am going to take a break.

That doesn’t mean, even with the ear stuff, that I am taking a break from music. Hello, my friend Pierce gave me a pillow with a speaker in it for my birthday so I can listen to music at night without disturbing Bryan.

BEST. PRESENT. EVER.

So, for now, I plan to share new music on Mondays as I find stuff worth sharing. Whether it be in the form of an iTunes mix (from which I make no money, by the way) or a single song that touched me, or videos that are fun… whatevs.

And I am ALWAYS on the prowl for new music, so please share your favorites, no matter the genre. My ears are open to anything.

For this first time, I wanted to celebrate some of the AMAZING music coming out of Denver right now. Dudes. AMAZING.
