Riu Palace Las Americas Cancun: Luxury All-Inclusive For Adults Only

I saved my fave for last with my Cancun resort reviews of the year. I really enjoyed my stay at Riu Palace Las Americas, an adults-only paradise on the north side of the hotel zone. Slightly smaller than its sister property, the Riu Peninsula, I liked how the Las Americas felt more intimate and cozy while still retaining luxury and service.

Review of Riu Palace Las Americas – Cancun, Mexico

This was my first visit to an adults-only (18+) resort and while I always enjoy the fun when kids are around – it was nice to just relax with less hustle and bustle.

Check-in was a breeze and I found the staff all over the resort to be very helpful and fluent in English – although I tried my best (poor) Spanish when I could.

The Food

Beyond the buffet (which is right near the beach), there are five restaurants: Fusion, Italian, Mexican, Japanese and a Steakhouse. There are also smaller snack bars to grab and go.

Since my stay was short, I didn’t get to explore all the restaurants – but to be honest – I personally love buffets at all-inclusives because I can have what I want when I want it.

My Room

I was lucky enough to have a full ocean view – and just wow – what a view.

The room itself was well-appointed and included all the things you would expect from a luxury resort.

The showstopper though: My balcony wrapped around the edge of the building so I could see the ocean *and* the pool. That balcony was huge!

The Pools

There is one “party pool” with the swim up bars and activities and a more chill relaxation bar that has an infinity edge overlooking the beach. I loved going back and forth between them depending on my mood.

And! Mega bonus points because the pools were VERY WARM! Even after an afternoon rain! I am not sure if Riu heats the water, or I just caught it at the perfect time, but that aspect was fabulous.

I was also befriended by some lovely Canadians and we have stayed in touch. It’s always nice to make new friends when you travel!

The Beach

The stretch belonging to Las Americas is a bit small – but it is stunning. Clear, calm water and very flat sand. There is also a bit of a man-made inlet nearby that hugs water close and keeps it even warmer than the very temperate Caribbean.

The Ambiance

Relaxation and luxury. Those are the two words I would use for Riu Palace Las Americas. For me, that is just what I was looking for. A place to get away from it all and enjoy the beach. Of course, there are a million things to do around the area. Cancun itself is a hotspot for nightlife and there is snorkeling and marine life galore.

So, for us, I have discovered how easy it is to get to Cancun and it’s surrounding resort areas (it’s faster for us to get there than to go back east). We can go for a quick trip and just enjoy the beach and warm weather at a resort like Riu Las Americas – or plan a long trip and add adventures.

For this trip, the beach and weather was definitely just what I needed.
