Winona Fighter at Larimer Lounge
I haven’t been to Larimer Lounge in forever! Since the venue started having more EDM shows, it’s been hard to catch a good old fashioned rock concert there. Luckily, the band Winona Fighter came through Denver recently and absolutely packed the place.
If you haven’t heard of Winona Fighter yet, you are in for a treat. This Nashville-based band is bringing a fresh take on punk rock, blending raw energy with catchy hooks and fearless attitude. Fronted by the charismatic Coco Kinnon, Winona Fighter isn’t just making music – they’re making a statement. Their songs tackle everything from mental health struggles to societal pressures, all wrapped up in anthemic choruses you can scream along to.
Despite being a relatively new band, they’ve already built a loyal fanbase with their kick ass live shows. Coco’s magnetic energy, paired with the band’s punchy instrumentals, makes every concert feel like an underground punk revival. As you can see from the photos below, the whole band puts their whole heart into the performance, and Denver was LOVING it. Plus, seeing as it’s like our official state car, everyone especially belted out their song, “Subaru.”
Winona Fighter is headed to the UK next, then back to the States this summer, and finishing the year at Warped Tour. I hope you can catch them at a smaller club like I did before this powerhouse of a band blows up big.
