Wu-Tang Clan at Mission Ballroom
The last time I saw Wu-Tang Clan was when Riot Fest still here in Denver as well as Chicago, and it was pouring buckets of rain. The atmosphere was definitely more hot at Mission Ballroom last month, when the group was here for their 36 Chambers 25th Anniversary Tour.
The evening started with a trailer for their Hulu series, “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” and then the crew burst out on stage one by one. They all brought the intensity that helped them gain, and maintain, hip hop royalty status.
They went after song after song with Denverites perpetually waving the Wu-Tang hand sign. There was also a touching remembrance for late member Ol’ Dirty Bastard, with his son Young Dirty Bastard taking his place on vocals. This show, on top of a sold-out one at Red Rocks the next night, gave fans plenty to revel in.
