Hometown For The Holidays 2022 with The Driver Era

Hometown For The Holidays Concert with The Driver Era

I was trying to remember how many Hometown For The Holiday concerts I have attended, so I asked my pal Alf for a list of past winners to see. The contest started in 2006, and, incredibly, I have been to almost all of these shows!

2006 DORK  //  2007 Flobots //  2008 Roe //  2009 Epilogues //  2010 Air Dubai //  2011 Churchill //  2012 My Body Sings Electric //  2013 Claymore Disco (now Modern Suspects) //  2014 AMZY //  2015 888 //  2016 Redlands //  2017 Wildermiss //  2018 Enzi //  2019 Vynyl //  2020 Elektric Animals //  2021 Neon the Bishop

We gathered at the Oriental Theater last weekend to watch this year’s Top Three perform: One Flew West (for their fifth time in the Top Ten!), Seth Beamer, and Sophie Gray. All three were terrific, and then former Denver locals The Driver Era did an acoustic set to finish the night. (Bonus points to Ross Lynch for hanging around to take selfies with everyone who wanted them.)

Well – there was some business to attend to, of course. As I mentioned earlier, Alf is retiring from the station and it was lovely to see Nerf present him with a “gold record” for all his hard work supporting the local Colorado music scene.

And with Broncos mascot Miles there to hype the crowd, we cheered for the crowd performance fave – One Flew West! They received a $1,000 cash prize and will have to try again next year… because our overall HTFTH winner for 2022 is SETH BEAMER. Congrats to Seth and his crew! He will perform at next year’s Not So Silent Night concert, as well as receive recording time at Colorado’s famous Blasting Room.

I am looking forward to seeing the other new (to me) Top Ten bands live in 2023. Thanks to Channel 93.3 for their continued support of local music. Happy holidays!
