Alice Merton at Bluebird Denver
Alice Merton is a dynamic singer-songwriter best known for her breakout hit “No Roots.” Born in Germany and raised in various countries, her music is a reflection of her nomadic lifestyle. I was able to interview her in 2022, and then finally see her live at the Bluebird here in Denver last month.
Alice’s voice has a unique, soulful quality that makes her music instantly recognizable. I’m happy to report that her voice is just as good live, maybe even better. She also has a knack for writing lyrics that are both personal and universally relatable. Alice’s music videos are as engaging as her songs, often featuring vibrant, imaginative visuals. Definitely check them out when you can. She also has a great sense of style, frequently seen in chic, edgy outfits that match her bold music persona.
One of the highlights of an Alice Merton concert is her playful interaction with the audience, as well as her intense emotion while singing. Her ability to connect with people through her music is truly special. Fans here in Denver were bouncing along with her all night, including myself. I even waited in line to meet her after the show, and she was incredibly grateful for the Colorado love. Despite her success, Alice clearly remains down-to-earth and passionate about her craft, and her team. (While we were chatting, she chided herself for not thanking her lighting guy on stage. )
Alice released a new EP named Heron this year and has several more festival shows in 2024. I certainly hope she comes back to Denver sooner than later as well!
