It's Denver band love week! Recently I chatted with Dan Aid, lead singer of Wiredogs about their upcoming album and accompanying release show at The Marquis Theater. As always, he was candid, smart and funny. If you have never seen them, please get down to…

Photos: Air Dubai at the Bluebird Theater

It's pretty clear that one of my favorite bands (from Denver or not) is Air Dubai. I have photographed them many times and when they played the Bluebird late in 2014 after being on tour for most of the year, I was sure to be…

The Process

As Dex grows up, it feels like every day we find a new way to communicate with each other. If you have kids, you will remember those early days when every time you turned around there was another milestone. That is why many of us started blogs, to capture all of that. Entering teenhood is another renaissance - but the milestones are so subtle, you have to squint to see them. Dex has a big project that is due this week, something that could frankly change everything in our lives. He has been a bit lackadaisical about it and we've been teetering on that parental edge where you don't know when to push, when to cajole, or when to let them do what they do - pass or fail. It's a big project. I keep reminding myself he is only 12. The pressure these kids have in middle school is astronomical. But if he wants this, he has to get it done.

Airborne Toxic Event at Ogden Theatre

"Changing" from The Airborne Toxic Event's 2011 album "All At Once" ranks up there as one of my very favorite songs but I had never seen the band live before. Mikel Jollett and his crew recently played a two-night stint at Denver's Ogden Theatre, so…

Merry Christmas 2014

We usually do more on Christmas Eve than Christmas Day, so computers are about to be shut down and cooking to commence. Lots of German food including rouladen, dumplings, red cabbage and... you know, that super traditional German food, pumpkin pie. Our families are back…
