Fishbone at Levitt Denver
It’s pretty awesome when you finally get to photograph your husband’s all-time favorite band – even though you both have seen them many times over the years. Fishbone, the eclectic Los Angeles band that has been defying genres since the late 1970s, is a musical force like no other. This band blends ska, punk, funk, metal, reggae, and more into a frenetic and unforgettable show.
One of their most iconic tracks, “Party at Ground Zero,” perfectly encapsulates Fishbone’s ability to blend serious themes with infectious grooves. It’s this combination of social commentary and wild performances that has kept fans coming back for decades. When the band played Denver’s Levitt Pavilion recently (for a FREE concert no less), the lawn was absolutely buzzing.
But Fishbone’s concerts are more than just performances; they’re celebrations of musical freedom. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a first-time listener, a Fishbone show promises a night of dancing, sweating, and maybe even a little bit of moshing. As you can see below, frontman Angelo Moore, leapt out for some crowd surfing himself.
Over the years, the band has seen numerous lineup changes, but their core spirit remains unshakable. Despite the ups and downs, including periods of commercial struggle, Fishbone has always stayed true to their roots, continuing to tour and record new music.
In recent years, Fishbone has enjoyed something of a resurgence, with documentaries and renewed interest in their back catalog bringing them to the attention of a new generation. For those of us lucky enough to catch them live, it’s clear that time hasn’t dulled their edge. The band still brings the same raw energy to the stage that they did back in the 80s!
