My Chemical Romance - Denver Concert & Review - Ball Arena

My Chemical Romance at Denver’s Ball Arena

Finally! More than two years after My Chemical Romance announced their Reunion Tour, the band roared into a sold-out Ball Arena here in Denver – much to the glee of emo kids all around our Mile High City. MCR broke up in 2013, so in addition to COVID delays, this concert was almost a decade in the making.

I often say that I missed the height of pop-punk due to the birth of my son in 2002. Still, My Chemical Romance broke through that haze of sleepless nights, and I was really looking forward to the show too. The line wrapped around the building confirmed fans were more than ready.

This was my first time seeing MCR and, yup, the tour that no one wanted to miss was pitch perfect. Great vocals  from Gerard Way – both gravely and gyrating along with the highs and lows of their songs.  Great musicianship from the rest of the band – lead guitarist Ray Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way. Plus, I love seeing a band get back together because they really want to, which is what this show felt like.

I also love when a crowd is so loud you can hear them strongly singing with the band. This is no small task in a venue as big as Ball Arena, but everyone in Denver was up for it. As you can tell by the setlist below, the concert was a dizzying array of MCR’s catalog – and if you have been watching other shows on the tour, they have been switching things up for every city.

My Chemical Romance will finish up in the US this fall and then head to Australia in the Spring. They have also given us a new song, “The Foundations of Decay,” which you can check out on all the streaming services.
