Sunday Smorgasbord
I’ll use this Sunday, and the fact that Declan is knee deep in a playdate, to catch up on some silly things I’ve had in my inbox for a while.
I finally was able to give Danielle her last birthday present this weekend, a bowl that took me forever to make. Of course, several straight and narrow pottery students in my class pointed out that water would fall right out of it (thanks) but I happen to be very fond of this funky decorative bowl. And her last, last present will occur on February 12th when I take her to see Sara Bareilles and James Blunt. Nothing says love like spreading a birthday out an entire month.
Obviously Bryan is a better painting teacher than I am. This is a “chicken’s footprint from above” that Declan painted under his tutelage. I am going to hang it in my office at work.
Look what my wonderful hubby made for breakfast. And don’t worry, it’s low-sugar syrup.
For you Coloradans, are you ready to C-A-U-C-U-S? Obama’s site has a really good tutorial on the whole thing. We’ll be there will bells on Tuesday evening – Declan’s little hand firmly clasped between us. Speaking of Obama, did you hear that Move On endorsed him? Now that John Edwards has “suspended” his campaign, I can spread my Barack-o-love guilt-free.
I am sure most of you have seen this already, but my friend Teri turned me on to this, and it’s too good to not see like 50 times. I have never been a big fan of Sarah Silverman, mainly because her voice grates on my nerves – but she has definitely gone up a few notches for me after this. And Matt Damon? I just love him. L-O-V-E.
(P.S. not for little ears).
And so ends our Swedish overindulgence for the day. As for the big game later? I will probably be watching the latest installment of the Jane Austen next-best-thing-to-porn fest that’s been happening on PBS all this month. But if I was watching, I’d be rooting for the Giants.
Sorry Boogiemum, gotta root for the underdog.
And thanks Lisa!
that’s going to be an awesome concert.
Totally! We have seen James Blunt before (opening for Jason Mraz) and really enjoyed him – but can’t wait to see Sara!!!
Sara is hysterical, have fun!
great painting by Declan!
…and on the minibar! Classic.
Casual Perfectionist – Have you seen Grimm Brothers? Overall, just a decent movie, but the really wonderful thing was seeing Heath Ledger and Matt Damon play against type. Really good performances.
Melissa, I just let the listing expire! That bowl is sitting right here next to me on the desk if you want it!
And Hi EatPlayLove! I wouldn’t say I am a Giants fan, just have friends in NY! 😉
Oh, and I had heard that – the bumming thing! Makes it even funnier.
I love that Sarah Silverman video. I’ve watched it about 100 times. Then I went and watch Bourne Ultimatum because Matt Damon is so cute.
Oh, and that bowl is awesome. Very cool!
Awesome bowl, love the video. I guess your still cool, since you’re spreading Obama love, even if you aren’t rooting for my beloved Pats 🙂 Seriously, you rock!
Thanks for sharing that clip! It always seems to be hit or miss with Sara’s things, but that video was great! Apparently she’s been sleeping around with my boyfriend, but I suppose I’ll let it go. 😉 This time.
I love Dex’s chicken picture and your bowl is great too.
I’m watching the game, but only for the commercials. My husband didn’t know it was on today and still doesn’t know who is playing, which is reason #8 on the list of reasons why I love him.
Love that bowl. And can I tell you how sad I was to see that blue wire bowl gone from Etsy? The Sara Silverman vid cracked my ass up. The story behind it is great (Jimmy kept ‘bumping’ Damon from his show).
Actually I have a bowl like that that is meant to serve pasta — like a colander! (It came with a plate. Now you know what to give Danielle next year.)
Thanks for stopping by.. So to add to the tall woman thing, we’ve got Barack and the Giants! Love it.. Denise
I love the ‘catch all’ posts… The video completely cracked me up and the bowl is a beauty!
1. Your family is so artistic!
2. What a gorgeous breakfast!
3. I’ve never lived in a caucus state before 8 months ago. I am so psyched to caucus!
4. Sometimes I like Sarah Silverman, sometimes I don’t. I LOVE this video. And Matt Damon. Sigh.
5. Hooray! Giants win!
6. Help, I can’s stop using exclamation points!
I know Maypole – sheesh!
And Joansy – HI! I haven’t seen you in forever! And it was literally the 1st football game we watched all year.
Thanks Gretchen and Sarah – and welcome Missy!
because water is the only thing you can put in bowls. yeesh.
I just started reading your blog a few days ago. 🙂 Love the bowl and the painting – and that Sarah video is so funny! After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I laughed the entire time.
Wow, thanks for the laughs via video! I can’t say I watch Sarah Silverman much but that video brightened an otherwise dreary morning.
I can’t believe that no one else has commented on the-next-best-thing! Hello, are we the ONLY Austin-obsessed people around anymore? I only wish I’d known about this earlier. Simply can’t get enough…it’s like crack.
And the non-water-holding bowl is just too awesome for simpletons to appretiate. How the heck did they get into that class anyway?
Em, it’s been awesome. Although my fave so far was definitely the new Persuasion. I am buying that one.
mmmm…pancakes with nuts!!!
nanny, nanny, boo, boo – my bowl is beautiful!!!!
I wish we got to caucus, it sounds like fun. You’ll have to let us know how it goes!
Love the bowl and painting. I’m effing Matt Damon!
that video made my week! and my dad wanted to caucus in CO but missed the deadline for signing up. they told him he could vote in the primary in August. um, thanks.
Doodaddy – I am a bit nervous it is going to be a madhouse! But we’ll see!
Danielle – glad you like it!
And thanks everyone!!!
Last comment today I PROMISE… just had to thank you for sharing the Matt Damon love. DAMN that was great.
