Almost Monday at Meow Wolf
If you haven’t heard of the band Almost Monday yet, you’re missing out on some of the best feel-good indie pop around! Hailing from sunny San Diego, this trio made of Dawson Daugherty (vocals), Cole Clisby (guitar), and Luke Fabry (bass) first started making waves in 2019. They originally met in high school and spent their early days playing small gigs and surfing the SoCal music scene. Their big break came when “Broken People” (my personal fave) and “Come On Come On” hit streaming platforms, quickly earning them a devoted fanbase.
Since then, Almost Monday has been on a roll. I have seen and photographed them several times, including last year at KTCL’s NSSN Festival and opening for Joywave. Their music is packed with infectious hooks, breezy guitar riffs, and that perfect “windows-down, road trip” energy, which – to be honest, I desperately needed this winter.
For their show at Meow Wolf’s Perplexiplex, Adrian Lyles was the opener and it was his very first tour (ever!) despite having been on High School Musical: The Series (with none other than Olivia Rodrigo). Adrian was a perfect choice for the tour; he sounded great and filled the room with great energy.
One of the things that makes Almost Monday stand out is lead singer Dawson’s swagger as well as captivating moves that pull the crowd in. The show at Meow Wolf was so, so, so sold out that it was packed back to front and the whole place was dancing along with those upbeat vibes.
Almost Monday finishes up here in the US this month, then heads all over Europe for the Spring and Summer. Excited that our friends across the pond will get to have some fun with these guys too!
