Amyl & The Sniffers, an explosive punk rock band hailing from Melbourne, Australia, has been making waves in the music scene with their unapologetically raw and energetic sound since 2016. Comprising lead singer Amy Taylor, guitarist Declan Martens, drummer Bryce Wilson, and bassist Gus Romer, the band has captured the hearts of fans worldwide with their high-octane performances and infectious spirit.
I was able to catch them before at Shaky Knees in 2022, which made me a huge fan. I was 1000% determined to photograph them at their sold-out headlining show at the Ogden here in Denver. The scene was absolutely nuts and I loved every minute of it.
At the core of Amyl & The Sniffers’ appeal is their dedication to the essence of punk – a rebellious, untamed spirit that refuses to conform. Amy Taylor’s charismatic stage presence, coupled with the band’s no-frills approach to music, creates an atmosphere of unbridled energy.
One of the defining features of an Amyl & The Sniffers concert is the sense of unity that pervades the venue. In the mosh pit, fans become a part of a collective experience – losing themselves in the contagious fervor that Amyl & The Sniffers generate. That night was the most crowd-surfing I have ever seen at the Ogden – and even cooler, it was a entirely joyful atmosphere.
Next year, the band will open for Foo Fighters on several of their tour dates (sadly not Denver). For those who get to see them – strap in, brace yourself, and get ready for Amyl & The Sniffers.
