When I attended the Web Summit in Lisbon last year, I was having trouble getting a straightforward flight. So, I decided to take advantage of the proximity to other countries in Europe plus the fact that I had never been to France, and route myself…
Today, people from all over the world gathered in their cities in a show of solidarity for equal rights. It was called the "Women's March," but in my opinion, it should have been the "People's March," because it put on display all the issues we have been wrestling with since Donald Trump was elected president (and before). Here in Denver, they were expecting 40,000 people and that number exploded to well over 100,000, with some estimates as high as 200,000. We found it to be a bit overwhelming, of course, with all those people - but the atmosphere was all about love. A huge variety of signs, as you will see in the gallery below, with creative flair and humor. Today was so uplifting for us! We sincerely thank the organizers, the police, the city of Denver and everyone who made the Women's March possible.
It's been another fantastic year for me on this blog, even though 2016 hasn't been the best year all around. I have been lucky to shoot Denver concert photos with some of the greatest photographers around, at some of the best venues Colorado has to offer. I attended 97 concerts total and worked at most of them. Eeks! I even sprained both my ankles in July (during They Might Be Giants) and managed to plow right into Riot Fest in August. So yeah, it was a great year for Denver music and I have thousands upon thousands of photos to prove it. It was incredibly hard to whittle them down, so I hope you forgive me for being indulgent and sharing full-on 76 of my favorites with you.
If you follow me on Spotify, you know I am ALL about my playlists. I start a new one at the beginning of every year and add to it religiously every week. My "Best Songs of 2016" playlist ended up being nearly 300 tunes, my largest yet! When people say there is no new music... basically... that's garbage. This playlist proves it. And while I am continually advocating for artists to be paid more for the spins they get on Spotify - one way to help them is to listen.
