Hidden Beach on the Marietas Islands, Mexico

When we visited Puerto Vallarta, I knew there was one place we had to go as a day-trip. I had seen all these outrageous photos on Pinterest of somewhere called Hidden Beach, and to be honest, I didn't even believe it actually existed. But it does. And is amazing. This secret, special place is located within the Marietas Islands, about an hour's boat ride from Puerto Vallarta. We were staying on the Riveria Nayarit side of Banderas Bay, which is much closer.

Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

We are big fans of the Caribbean. We especially love Mexico because it is such a quick, direct flight from Denver. In fact, it is faster for us to the get there than it is for us to fly back east. I tend to get…

Non-Communication During Travel

How do you stay in touch with family while out and about? As in, when one parent travels for work or fun, and the other stays home with the kid(s). Many friends have complained about this dilemma: you call in and the kids get all riled up... a mixture of missing you, bummed they aren't there, excited about where you are. And then the other parent is left to pick up the pieces. When Dex was younger, this was a real problem for us. Phone calls were awkward. Trying to explain what was going on in the middle of conferences was disjointed. Me? Personally? I get so overwhelmed with all the people that it's hard for me to concentrate on a conversation in a hallway with traffic buzzing back and forth around me.

ROAR Retreat in Costa Rica #ROAR14

Ever since I went out on my own with Giese Media, I have had exceptional luck with clients. Even better, exceptional luck with clients coming back. After we launched the new Savvy Sassy Moms and Child Mode sites, their (separate) founders came back to me with a (collaborative) idea. ROAR Retreat will be a social media conference held this fall in Costa Rica, where Andrea of SSM has relocated with her family. The idea revolves around bringing bloggers together to share ideas, to get empowered and to build community.

Twenty Years In Denver

"Why did you move?" People ask us that a lot, although I am not sure why it is such a strange thing, that we picked up from Maryland and headed west in early 1994. So many have done the same - and I don't mean in a Oregon Trail kind of way. Over the last twenty years, there has been a massive influx into Colorado, from all over... simply because it's a great place to live.

Home

Sometimes what you need to do is get away to be at home. After the first night in Mexico, after we had all slept for 12 hours straight, Bryan said my face had changed. It is nice to have known someone that long, someone who…

Off To Mexico

It's been a rough week. My mom had her heart surgery and while she's holding her own; it's not an easy thing to recover from. Every day there have been emails and phone calls discussing every aspect of her recovery, and she remains in the…
