Barcelona Wine Bar - Late Night Food in Denver

Late Night Trip to Barcelona, in Denver

Note: Our meal was provided by Barcelona Wine Bar but words and photos are mine.

We’ve been going to the RiNo District for years for music and fun, and watched the many changes that have made the area one of Denver’s most popular night time destinations. A few weeks before everything was shut down for COVID-19 safety, we were invited to Barcelona Wine Bar, a venue we have walked past hundreds of times but somehow missed (?). It’s right there on the corner of 29th and Larimer, so we’re looking forward to restrictions being lifted so we can go back asap.

The name Barcelona Wine Bar gives a hint of their Spanish style, but it doesn’t come close to describing all they offer. Yes, they have a great selection of Spanish-inspired dishes like Arroz Marineros and Paella Mariscos. They also have an extensive and ever-changing list of delicious wines from all over Spain, as well as a strong focus on locally-sourced goods.

At the bar, they have a wide selection of craft beers, custom cocktails and worldly wines to choose from. After a drink or two, it’s easy to find something delicious to get started with on their charcuterie + cheese and tapas menu. We tried the Jamón & Manchego Croquetas, Bacon Wrapped Dates, Patatas Bravas and a few others. They were all delicious and perfectly sized for us to share.

If you don’t fill up on the tapas, there are several full entrees, salads and desserts, too. We didn’t make it that far, but saw a few orders of the paella go by that looked amazing.

One of the best parts of Barcelona (when on a regular schedule) is they are open late so it’s easy to stop in after enjoying everything else in the area and get a last drink and delicious dish to finish off the night. In our case, Barcelona is a perfect fit for before and after concerts at Mission Ballroom and Larimer Lounge.

I recommend sharing a porrón with a few friends. If you are brave enough, here’s what you’re in for!

Until all the coronavirus issues pass, they are open Noon – 8pm, so you can order ahead and pick up anything from the menu to take home. We’ll be doing that soon, but really look forward to going back to enjoy the entire place.
