Photos: KTCL’s Not So Silent Night 2014 Denver
Every year, our local indie music station KTCL Channel 93.3 throws a song contest called Hometown For The Holidays. The winner from that gets to open for next year’s Not So Silent Night show at Broomfield’s 1st Bank Center. Past winners have included Flobots, Churchill, Air Dubai and My Body Sings Electric. This year, Modern Suspects (formerly known as Claymore Disco) got to open for Vance Joy, Half Moon Run, Fitz & The Tantrums and Cage The Elephant.
Yeah. It’s a big deal – and a huge concert.
Both events (NSSN and HTFTH) tend to be the holiday party for Denver concert goers, much like KTCL’s Big Gig is a celebration of summer. I must admit I had a few drinks while taking these (so did KTCL DJs if my photos are any evidence) and I missed Half Moon Run entirely because a girl has gotta eat while photographing five bands. But the fact that I got to hang with Monika, Shane and many Denver friends just makes these shows even more fun.

I was lucky enough to help vote on the Hometown For The Holiday songs this year and think the Top Eleven were outstanding. I look forward to finding out who gets to play next year’s Not So Silent Night tomorrow but, more importantly, see friends from KTCL, the bands and pals around Denver.
I have had an amazing year shooting concerts and this show was a huge highlight for me. Thanks to Nerf and everyone at Channel 93.3 for continuing to be so awesome.
