Ra Ra Riot at Bluebird Theater Denver

I’ve had a rough couple of years. My mom and aunt passed away back in Maryland in 2017 and 2018, respectively. I flew back and forth more then than in the 25+ years since I moved to Denver.

But what does this have to do with Ra Ra Riot?

I missed a lot of shows here in Colorado during that time, but I was able to catch just a few back east – one of them being Ra Ra Riot at the famed 9:30 Club in DC. A club I used to go to when I was teen, back when it used to be, um, pretty much a hole. The new space (since 1996) is much bigger, nicer and I had a really great night there with Ra Ra Riot when I really needed it. I swore then and there I would see them again on my home turf and also photograph the show.

Flash-forward to Ra Ra Riot one of our famous venues, the Bluebird Theater – which used to be a porn theater but reopened in 1994 as a music venue (coincidentally the year we moved to Denver) and transformed the whole district.

It was fantastic to see my special friends (in my head, we have a connection now, you know?) play another special venue and rock it out.

So … Where should we go next, Ra Ra Riot???
