Dermot Kennedy & The O’My’s at Summit Music Hall Denver
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Dermot Kennedy’s show at the Summit Music Hall in Denver. The Irish singer/songwriter has taken long strides away from his folkish roots, especially with his latest single “Power Over Me” – which is probably his most “pop” effort to date. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining, because I like it all. Dermot’s voice is so powerful, he could sing the phone book and I would be happy.
His live show was a nice mix of all he is as an artist. Intimate and reserved, then strong and loud. The Summit is a pretty big venue here in Denver (1,000 people) and the place was packed. Sometimes a singer/songwriter can get lost in a venue but that certainly didn’t happen for Dermot Kennedy. His songs sounded pretty damn good reverberating from everyone in the room.
Openers The O’My’s set the stage nicely for a great night of music.
Dermot is on tour in Europe though next Spring, but I for one will welcome back to Denver very soon.
