Expanding My Horizons
While we were in Mexico – I ate a stuffed pepper. This is a big deal, because I pretty much hate peppers, stuffed or not. Growing up, that was one meal my mom had to shove down my throat. Well, that – and liver or three bean salad. But this dish in Mexico was a mild, soft roasted red pepper stuffed with cheeses and bread crumbs. It was quite tasty, I might add. Bryan even made Cap take a photo of the pepper as it passed my lips because he was in utter shock that I was actually trying it.
It’s not that I am crazy-picky. I just like what I like. And since I only get to eat a specific amount each day, why not concentrate on the things I like?
But at the same time, that can be kind of limiting right? I might have missed out on that tasty pepper in Mexico. Of course, it was helpful that it we were at an all-inclusive and if I didn’t like it, I could have just gone and got something else instead.
Then this weekend, Jeff and Danielle were over for dinner and they brought a bottle of wine. As you may have guessed, I am not a big fan of wine. I do like the smell of it for some reason, but the taste – definitely “not my favorite.”
But as Jeff, Danielle and Bryan were on the borderline of being rapturous over this wine, I figured – what the heck – I’ll give it a taste. They were right. It was pretty good. So I had half a glass. The look on Bryan’s face was worth the effort.
I still hate liver and three bean salad.
