The 1975 - Concert Photos Denver Fillmore

The 1975 at Denver’s Fillmore

Somehow I have missed the band The 1975 on their previous stops to Denver, so I didn’t realize how young their crowd is. I don’t mean that as a criticism; I think it’s awesome that this band’s sophisticated sound appeals far beyond my expectations.

Sure, “Chocolate” is pretty pop and I remember it being all over mainstream radio – but I never would call The 1975 a mainstream band. Still, as I photographed from the pit, fans behind me knew every word to every song.

I love it when that happens.

The band themselves were engaging, even as they stayed mainly draped in darkness with bright pink flashes. Lead singer Matt Healy was back and forth on the stage, bringing thousands of people at the Fillmore with him. Everyone was dressed dapperly, and the background sophisticatedly weaved clouds around in blocks of light.

But truly, the night was about the music and Healy’s voice – as any good concert should be.

Rumors is there will be an album in 2018, and I know a bunch of people in Denver who are eagerly awaiting it.
