Ahhh, Colorado

Yesterday:
74 degrees. We spent the day getting the backyard ready for Spring. About 15 bags and bundles worth of leaves, sticks and assorted remnants of dormancy. I had shorts on, we put on sunscreen, and I noticed how every single tree was budding, as well as about 7 plants in the flower beds.

This Morning:

3-6 inches expected in Denver Metro. 20 inches in the southern mountains.

The good news is, the average snowpack up in the high country is at 132% right now. (Our snowpack melts in the spring and summer and provides our water down here in the flatlands).

So, all that stuff we uncovered yesterday? We may actually be able to water come July.

Oh, and don’t forget the wind! My poor neighbors across the street went to bed last night with their front window open and woke up to probably a good inch of snow in their house. Ain’t nuttin’ like spring in Colorado!

    what a nice word though:

    SPRING

  3. Sizzle

It was all sunny here and we were getting excited for spring and then, thunderstorm and rain. Weird!

Yikes. I’m happy to see beautiful photos of the white stuff, but am glad I don’t have to live with it!

Um, I stole one of you pictures today for my blog. Hope that’s OK with you!

    Yesterday was fabulous, wasn’t it?

Same here! We drove to New Mexico yesterday and it was 80F there, just one hour from us. I was a bit sad yesterday though – I love spring but I love skiing more.

Today: skiing in a blizzard, my face feels like it’s raw meat, the snow was brutal. Got back home an hour ago and I’m still freezing!

it’s cracking me up how all the Coloradoans are commenting today. we’re in this together, clearly.

    and no worries Sarah!

Yeah, so…I don’t think I’ll be wearing the same outfit I wore yesterday. My neighbors would wonder why I’m shoveling in my flip-flops. :p

This has been a weird winter for us in VA this year. My tulips and daffodils are already way up. I’m so worried a freeze is going to come along and kill them.

March and April are so weird here, aren’t they? (Sometimes even May, like the year we went to scope out places for our wedding. Started out around 80 that day, got windy and cooler while we looked around one place (down to 60ish), by the time we got home, it was 30’s and snowing.)

    Spring? What’s that…

It was 65 when we left central Iowa at 2, and by the time we hit the state line it was in the high 30’s…

    Someday.

The upside? When the snow does melt, the job will already be done!

I think it’s what I love most about Colorado, the kooky weather. I definitely need those sun-shiney days to give me a break from the winter blahs!

Oh dear. Still, you got a bunch of your spring clear out done?

I love Colorado. I also worked in my yard and riding around town on my pink scooter. And then BAM…snow, wind and slush! Love Colorado.

    I miss Denver, too!!!

We had 75 deg on Sat, too, and it was simply beautiful. Today is 36 deg and raining. At least it is not ice.

    amazing!

Good news re: the water! I hope the southeast has similar numbers.

I think we faired better, we were melting pretty good – then got a couple of inches in the valley. I hope the mountains got lots more – our water comes from them during the dry season which can get VERY dry…

    Just like Indiana….

It might be about 80 degrees one day and freezing and snow the next.

I hate it! Sorry that you are having to deal with it.

  22. sue

Yeah, don’t think we’ll be hearing the word “draught” this summer… (good!)

  23. samantha Jo Campen

That is just pure craziness. But yeah for snowpack and no, I didn’t know what that meant 🙂

What a positive way to look at it.

Here in Chicago it was 57 on Sunday. This morning it was in the 50s when I left for work. When I left the office at 5 it was 25 and snowing.

    Spring, I’m ready for you.

    That is crazy!
