When people ask how I met Monika, we usually look at each other and shrug. Twitter? Ignite Boulder? A concert? All of the above? It was quite a while ago for sure, and that lady has become a most cherished friend. The difference in our ages makes us more like sisters sometimes, although Monika is quite mature and me... not so much. So basically we meet in the middle? What *is* clearly defined, though, is how Monika met Jonathon. And then married him 23 days later. I remember it distinctly because I am there in that timeline, at Day 5 Concert. I got a text while they were in route, "I am bringing a guy. I want your opinion."

Well, actually I am proud to call these guys old friends. At least relatively, since I am decrepitly aged enough to be a mother to most of them - or at least an aunt, or big sister? Non-Communication During Travel

How do you stay in touch with family while out and about? As in, when one parent travels for work or fun, and the other stays home with the kid(s). Many friends have complained about this dilemma: you call in and the kids get all riled up... a mixture of missing you, bummed they aren't there, excited about where you are. And then the other parent is left to pick up the pieces. When Dex was younger, this was a real problem for us. Phone calls were awkward. Trying to explain what was going on in the middle of conferences was disjointed. Me? Personally? I get so overwhelmed with all the people that it's hard for me to concentrate on a conversation in a hallway with traffic buzzing back and forth around me.

Ever since I went out on my own with Giese Media, I have had exceptional luck with clients. Even better, exceptional luck with clients coming back. After we launched the new Savvy Sassy Moms and Child Mode sites, their (separate) founders came back to me with a (collaborative) idea. ROAR Retreat will be a social media conference held this fall in Costa Rica, where Andrea of SSM has relocated with her family. The idea revolves around bringing bloggers together to share ideas, to get empowered and to build community.

Since my friend Erica has written about it, I am free to tell you we had some, well, "issues" while the music rolled on.
