The Night When I Jumped Into A Pool Fully Clothed
Well, as an adult anyway. We’ve all done it when we are like 16, right?
But not usually when you are 39 and attending a fancy schmancy evening out with about 80 local social media experts and promoting a good cause and tasting wine and sampling bruschetta.
I mean that’s how it started and all.
Amber talking about Mile High Mamas.
Jyl talking about Mom It Forward and Office Max’s A Day Made Better Campaign, which is working to erase teachers funding their own classroom supplies.
And everyone listening. And being lovely. And attentive. And JoAnn being UNNATURALLY serious.
But the crowd started to dwindle, as it does, and we remaining ladies tiptoed our way up to the rooftop pool at the Warwick hotel in Denver. I mean, who doesn’t want to hang out by a warm pool on a fine summer evening with a bunch of awesome women?
Until Jyl and I started triple dog daring each other to jump in.
In our clothes.
The folks from the Warwick thought we were kidding.
ALL I CAN SAY IS THIS: THANK GOD FOR HEATED POOLS.
And for friendly peer-pressure.
In case you are wondering, Heather from A Mama’s Blog‘s hair has never looked more awesome than in that moment.
And what else is there to do when you are swimming in a rooftop pool with all your clothes on?
Can you pee your pants laughing in a pool?
Don’t answer that.
Finally, the wonderful folks from the Warwick came up to check on us. Most certainly to make sure we weren’t drunk. (Nope. Just lunatics.) Once they ascertained we had control of all our facilities (ignore my question about peeing my pants for just a minute), they then wrapped us up in towels and sent us on our merry way. Whew. Seriously. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.
Thanks again to everyone for such a fun night, and if you want to see the full scoop, here are all my photos, and here are all Amy Crunchy Domestic Goddess’ photos.
Loved, loved, loved hanging out with you! We must do it more often…
If you all weren’t so fancy, I’d say I so wanted to hang out with you.
OH MY LORD!!! You are crazy!!!!! How funny! – m
What a fun evening! Thanks for capturing it on film…
Sometimes it’s good to be a man.
That is awesome. Because of your talented storytelling I feel almost like I was there.
You know, I would have wound up in the pool too.
Um, Amie and Isabel – I would have THROWN you in the pool if you didn’t jump. Out of love and all.
You guys have all the fun!!!
I had to laugh when I saw that picture! I don’t remember being serious at all, and you’ve caught me on film! (Can we say “caught on film” when there’s no film involved?)
The pool party part of the evening looks like a BLAST! I’m sorry I missed it, but it’s probably for the best. 😉
Had a blast hanging out with you and all the ladies last night! Even though I had only my feet in it, the pool party was my favorite part! Way to set the tone! Maybe we should’ve gotten you to jump in the pool at the start of the evening! Not that we weren’t already having fun, but CRAZY FUN is the best kind of fun! LOL!
LOVE it! I am so using some of your great photos. With full attribution, of course. Thanks for making the evening SO MUCH FUN!
More bummed than ever that I couldn’t be there. You know I would’ve been soaked to the bone.
You guys are crazy! I would never do that!
After our little pool party, I consider being an honorary Mile High Mama my highest calling in life!
Here, here for the triple dog dare! Thanks for being my partner in crime :).
I. Am. So. Jealous.
Come to Utah will you, so we can all be crazy together? Please.
How fun! Not sure I’d succumb to peer pressure or not…guess you all better come to Utah so I can find out! 😉
I’m so glad you and Jyl decided to take the plunge. Jumping er daintily stepping into the pool was one of the best parts of the night. Wonder how we can top that next time?! 😉
You silly nut! Glad you had fun! I hope to be living in CO by May 2010 and have fun with you crazy ladies 😀
I had more fun with you ladies than I’ve had in a long time .. can’t wait until next time!
I love reading about the fucking awesome party I was invited to, had rsvp’d yes to and then could not find a sitter so I could go to. Seriously, boo hoo on me. 🙁
